Our Interviewing Philosophy
At Ellucian, we recognize that interviewing is a two-way street. While we're learning about your experience, strengths, and aspirations, you're also learning about us - who we are, how we work, and whether this is a place where you can grow and thrive. That mutual discovery is at the heart of how we design our process. Here's what you can expect:
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Showcasing Your Skills
Our interview process is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths — how you think, solve problems, collaborate, and contribute. We use a globally consistent approach grounded in key competencies, which helps us understand both your past experience and your future potential.
2. Our Values, Your Potential
Our values are the foundation of how we work, and they play an important role in our interviews. We’re looking for people who not only bring strong skills but who align with our culture and the way we lead, innovate, grow, humanize, and transform.
3. Relevant and Role-Specific Assessments
Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete exercises, solve problems, or walk us through real-world examples of your work. These are designed to reflect the kind of challenges you’d take on at Ellucian. Whether technical, functional, strategic, or collaborative, you will have the opportunity to showcase your experience in a way that’s meaningful and relevant.
4. Transparency & Responsiveness
We know how important it is to feel informed and supported during a hiring process. Our goal is to make sure you know where you stand at every stage, from application through to final decisions.
We believe in closing the loop and respecting the time and effort you’ve invested with us.
5. Why We Do It This Way
We know interviewing can be daunting, and joining a new company is a big moment in your career. That’s why we’ve designed our process to ensure every candidate has a fair, inclusive, and meaningful experience - one rooted in respect and built to reflect our culture of inclusion, innovation, and purpose.

Business Casual Outfit
Video Interviews:
Wear business casual — think polo shirts, zip-neck tops, or smart blouses.
On-Site Interviews:
Professional attire but not overly formal. Examples:
- Dress shirts with trousers or skirts
- Smart dresses or blazers
Avoid jeans, hoodies, and trainers. If in doubt, keep it simple and professional!
Zoom Interview Set-Up
Set up in a quiet spot with a neutral background and join early to test your video and audio. Use the Zoom desktop app for the best experience, ensure a strong Wi-Fi connection, and connect your headphones ahead of time. Keep your video on, close unnecessary tabs, and silence notifications to minimize distractions.
Our approach to AI in the interview process
Balancing innovation with human touch: Our approach to AI in the interview process
At Ellucian, we believe in the power of technology to enhance how we work, connect, and grow, including during the hiring process. Of course, AI can help you prepare, but our hiring process is human-led. Real people review applications, lead interviews, and make decisions. Use AI if you wish, but let your voice and personality shine — because we’re hiring people, not prompts.
Real Impact
Everything we do at Ellucian is grounded in our core mission: powering higher education to empower student success.
